The board approved $214.72 to CAROLYN WATSON to reimburse her for printing the brochure. The board also approved sending a check for $40 to the county to allow the LWV to use the Charles Town Library for meetings; the check is held as a deposit against damage. Carline Shaw will present the proposed budget for FY 14-15 at the Annual Meeting. ANN COULTER will email the budget to members. Report approved.

Observer Update:

ELEANOR FINN will report on the LWV Observer Program at the Annual Meeting and attempt to recruit additional volunteers.

DEBBIE ROYALTY reported that the county commission is considering eliminating the police/fire/EMS portion of the impact fee.

Program Planning:

The annual meeting will be held June 10, (pot luck at 6pm; business meeting at 7pm), at the home of Carolyn Rodis, 4878 Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown. The agenda will include election of officers (President, Treasurer, and Secretary), a report on the Observer program by ELEANOR FINN, and reports by the President and Treasurer. JOAN ERGIN will discuss the September 23 voter registration effort, and CAROLYN WATSON will explain the library study . DEBBIE ROYALTY will have clipboards to collect suggestions for public service awards and program ideas. It was agreed that the focus of the meeting should be encouraging volunteers.

JOAN ERGIN noted that this fall’s candidate forums will the last ones that she and TINA BURNS will organize. New volunteers for Voter Services are needed.

Old Business:

The board approved sending a letter drafted by JOAN ERGIN to the local papers that explains the LWV’s non-partisan position in light of the controversy at the recent County Commission candidate forum.

Respectfully submitted,
