Champagne, Cake, Political Policy — and Dresses!

LWV AnniversaryThe League of Women Voters of Jefferson County held a Members Meeting February 7 to mark the 99th anniversary of the national organization with champagne, cake, and local political policy.

Tina Burns and Barbara Bratina, sisters whose mother, Josephine Bratina, was one of the founders of the Jefferson County League, provided the refreshments. Barbara presented her collection of historic dresses, some of which had been worn by their mother.

Eleanor Finn read her summary of the County Commission meetings for the past year and took questions and suggestions from the members. She will present the findings to the County Commission in the Spring.

The League looks forward to many more years of encouraging informed and active participation in the democratic process through voter registration and education, and the promotion of fair, open and accessible government.
