Civic Education and Participation Event
“Ballot Integrity” – Secretary of State Mac Warner to discuss processing and integrity of ballot handling in WV.
At 3–5pm: An informational lecture at Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education auditorium for teachers and students followed by Q&A.
At 7–9pm: An additional session open to the public at Erma Ora Byrd Hall auditorium.
The Civic Education & Participation Roundtable (CEP) was a concept collaborated on last December by the League of Women Voters of Jefferson County in conjunction with Ray Smock and Jay Wyatt of the Byrd Center for Legislative History and Education. The CEP was shortly joined by members from the NAACP, Shepherd University Lifelong Learning, and representatives from all four parties recognized in WV: Republican, Democratic, Mountain, Libertarian.
The Defined Mission Statement is to:
• Provide venue and informational review of issues pertinent to citizens and voters.
• Encourage greater civic participation via public gatherings which encourage discussion and participation.
• Include educational, non-partisan and partisan participants as resources.
