The biennial State Convention of the League of Women Voters of West Virginia will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Huntington at the Comfort Inn, next to the Barboursville Mall. The luncheon speaker will be Ted Boettner, Executive Director, WV Center for Budget Policy. Mr. Boettner and his organization have worked together with the League on numerous issues in the legislature, such as clean water and children’s issues.
There will be a block of rooms reserved for league members wishing to arrive Friday evening before the Convention. Those arriving on Friday are invited to attend the state board meeting on Friday evening if they wish.
Each local league is entitled to the number of delegates designated by the Bylaws:
Each local League shall be entitled to one delegate, in addition to the president of the local League or an alternate in the event a president is unable to attend: that delegate shall be chosen by the local League. The members of each local League having more than fifteen voting members shall be entitled to one additional delegate for each additional ten voting members or major fraction:
Huntington: 58 members = 6 voting delegates
Jefferson County: 50 members = 6 voting delegates
Morgantown: 68 members = 7 voting delegates
Wood County: 34 members = 4 voting delegates
Additional members are invited to attend as visitors.
The registration cost for delegates and visitors will be $20, which includes luncheon, workbook materials and coffee break snacks.
